It’s been close to a year when Google launched Legalized Love campaign in support of LGBT rights and marriage equality, which you can recap here.
For the past few weeks, you might have noticed the trend of a new profile picture in Facebook. Yeap, lime green square in support of vfx companies is so last season, because the light red equal sign on a bright red background image is now the new kid on the block!

INTER-VIEWS is a collection of visual stories that offers an intimate look into the lives of people who may not be as understood or visible in our society. Told from a first person point of view, this exhibition features photographs taken by communities that Photovoice SG has worked with, including youth on the autism spectrum, the children of ex-inmates, young adults who have experienced psychosis, and persons with HIV/AIDS. These are views from the inside that bring to light the hopes and concerns of persons who need to be more clearly seen and heard, and whose voices count as much in our land of stories.

Burning Beauty is a retrospective of David laChapelle’s works in his 30 years of career. The exhibition presented laChapelle’s iconic celebrity shots, gigantic photo collages, fils and music videos.
The great thing about the show is that works which are rarely seen of laChapelle were part of the show which include huge photo collages. New works were also part of the giant showcase which occupies all two levels of Fotografiska. More about the exhibition here.

OPEN: an open air instant exhibition
orchestrated by ART:UP, a Swedish queer gallery by Elinore Linden Strand. Our dear friend from Stockholm prepared an impromp-tu public queer exhibition involving Elinore herself, the two artists from RAP, Frida Isotalo and John Erlandsson.
It was in public, like public art. Basically Elinore decided to attack a popular space (not in winter though) for artists to ‘vandal’. It was a huge cement walls, or foot of a bridge that is usually used for graffiti in Hornstull area. Instead of spray paints on the wall though, we installed paintings, objects, photographs and performance.
Check out the OPEN facebook event page here. More photos here. And like ART:UP facebook page here!
Elinore recently told us that the wall has become increasingly popular for street queer artists to just put up their works. Amazing!
Thank you!

Last month the Jewish Museum removed San Francisco artist Marc Adelman’s controversial photo installation “Stelen (Columns)“ (2007–11) from its exhibition Composed: Identity, Politics, Sex. Adelman’s piece, which is part of the Jewish Museum’s collection, consists of 150 profile pictures found on the German gay dating site GayRomeo.com taken at Peter Eisenman’s Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin.
