Gallery Maskara’s controversy during Art Stage Singapore

Gallery Maskara featured T. Venkanna, an Indian artist who presented a performance piece in nude. The work speaks about reflection to his identity and a reference to Frida Kahlo where he invites viewers to sit beside his naked body, in front of a replica of Frida Kahlo’s painting titled The Two Fridas, 1939 and get their photo taken.

Art Stage is an inaugural international art fair which premiers in 2011. It ran from 12-16 January 2011 at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition and Convention Center. Venkanna performed until the 13th January due to controversial aspect of his piece.
