Coming Home to the Underwater Kingdom is a duo show between RAP artists, Ezzam Rahman and Kelvin Atmadibrata. It was a response towards Stockholm, as a city and narrative, an inspiration and a destination.

Ezzam presented a series of altered images printed on paper, a continuation of his previous diary-like series of photographs of Aquaman during his first visit for the Stockholm Pride in June 2011. Kelvin used the opportunity to expand his In Sear of the Water Dragon series of work which he started in 2009 and was presented as part of Stockholm Fringe in 2010.

The exhibition was beyond presentation but a collaboration. Themes such as childhood fantasy, super heroes and their relationship with water, and of course with a hint of masculinity and arguably, sexuality, are the concerns which the two artists were very interested in. The exchanges between the two works were considerably successful as well, especially in forms of color cohesion which resulted in a bluish environment for the viewers to experience in among the close-to-a-hundred booths during the fair.

Responses were positive too as the team managed to learn a lot from the discussions and feedbacks from the Swedish audience. A lot recognized the project from last year which was a good follow-up. The team hope to continue this in the future and develop more projects as well.

One last thing though, Stockholm was freezing, to the very core. Maybe it was for the team especially, because we were not used to the winter. But it was so unbelievably cold that Ezzam made this:
